A Short (ish) Introduction

I’m a writer, so no guarantees on the short part 😂

I’ve never been very good at intro pages, the pressure to present a positive picture doesn’t come easy to me because I’ve spent the majority of my life not believing there’s anything positive to say about myself. I’ve done a lot of work in the last few years to change that, but it’s a slow process and some days are harder than others.

I loved our wedding day, but goodness that dress was heavy and it was 95 degrees 🥵 in October 😑

Enough lamenting on my part, let me go ahead and introduce you to the two people who are my reason for getting up more mornings than not.

Goodness he looks good in a suit ❤️

The first, my husband. AKA my sun, moon, and stars. We started dating almost 14 years ago in May 2009 and I knew within a matter of weeks that I was going to marry him someday. On October 25th, 2014 we tied the knot with 40 of our nearest and dearest there to celebrate our union ❤️ He has been my rock throughout everything, and I do mean everything. Two miscarriages, three long distance moves (one with a toddler in tow), and a mental breakdown or two 🥴 Oh and a global pandemic right as our son was starting school 😳 Which brings me to…

I’m going to make a longer blog post about this, but I’ve decided to remove pictures of Joey from social media, sorry.

Our little boy Joey, the light of my life and the only person I’d do anything for. He is 5.5 years old, as stubborn as his mama and daddy, while simultaneously being the sweetest little kid you can imagine. At least a few times a day he tells me he’s cute, and I remind him he is also kind and funny and smart because he truly is. He is always helping his classmates and has kind of “adopted” another student who has a physical disability, making sure he can play with the other kids and walking with him to and from his car. I can’t tell you how much my heart swells when I see them playing together ❤️

Snapchat filters are my JAM 😂

Okay, now that I’ve stalled enough I guess it’s time to introduce myself. I am a writer by trade and currently a stay at home mama. I am a Jesus-lovin mama who also does not tolerate hatred, bigotry, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, anti-vax stupidity, or a general disbelief in science. If you fall into any of those categories, we probably won’t get along too well but you are welcome to engage in RESPECTFUL debate. More on that later 😏

I have been “writing a novel” for longer than Joe and I have been together, so I won’t be making any promises about that, but I am TRYING to find more of myself that isn’t wrapped up in motherhood or marriage. So 🤞🏻 I actually follow through. We’ll see, because I have been officially diagnosed with ADHD-Inattentive type, or as I like to call it, squirrel brain. The dog from Up? That’s me in middle age white woman form 😬 Okay, the child is bellowing for lunch, so I’ll be back later!
